Automatic Street Light Using LDR and BC547 Transistor

An automatic street lighting system that switches ON during darkness and OFF during daylight using an LDR (Light Dependent Resistor) and a transistor-based switching circuit. The system eliminates manual operation, conserves energy, and improves efficiency in public lighting.

Technical Specification

This project uses a simple analog circuit consisting of an LDR, BC547 NPN transistor, LED, resistor (100kΩ), and a 6V battery. The LDR changes resistance based on light intensity In daylight → low resistance → transistor OFF → LED OFF In darkness → high resistance → transistor ON → LED ON The BC547 transistor acts as a switch, controlling current flow through the LED. The 100kΩ resistor ensures proper biasing of the transistor. The circuit operates on low voltage (6V), making it safe, cost-effective, and suitable for small-scale implementation.
